A1: Becoming familiar with relevant aspects of students' background knowledge and experience.
In an effort to get to know my students, I created an IEP notebook in which I have placed IEP information for all
of my students so that I may ensure that their accommodations are properly met.
One of the first assignments I gave my students was geared towards getting to know them better. Each student
received a welcome letter from me on the first day of school, and their job was to respond to the letter, telling me about
themselves.

MCPS: Planning instruction that is consistenly reflective of overarching curriculum goals and state and local student
learning objectives.
As a first year teacher, many of my lesson plans come directly from the curriculum guide. As I learn and grow as
an educator, however, my lessons are beginning to branch beyond simply what the curriculum guide provides and yet still address
the standards set forth by the goals of the curriculum guides, and the state and local student learning objectives.
