Response to Welcome Letter

            Your response to my welcome letter may follow the same format as mine.  The only difference will be that I expect you to head your paper in the proper manner (see how this sheet is headed?)  Remember – you MUST use your first and last name as well as class period in your heading!

            Your response must include the following:

1)      An introductory paragraph (paragraph 1) letting me know your name, what grade you are in, how old you are, who you had for English class last year, and what school you went to last year (if it was different than Tilden).

2)      A body paragraph (paragraph 2) telling me what you are looking forward to about this school year.  This can include social situations/activities, but you MUST include at least one academic situation/activity that you are looking forward to.

3)      A paragraph (paragraph 3) describing one academic goal you have for yourself this year and why you think it is an important goal to have.

4)      A closing paragraph (paragraph 4) that lets me know any other information about yourself that you want to share.  This paragraph is OPTIONAL.

5)      Your signature.

This assignment is worth 5 points and will be your first grade of the year.  Your response is due when you arrive to class on Thursday, August 28, 2008.  The deadline for this assignment is Friday, August 29, 2008.
